Your Team of Ranch Hands
We want to take a moment and introduce you to our “family.”
Mark & Jamileh Shoemaker
Mark and Jamileh have been married for over 25 years and have two beautiful daughters and two grandchildren. They both have degrees in Large Animal Science from Delaware Valley College in Doylestown, PA, and enjoy having the ability to use their education in a practical way.
Mark has enjoyed the outdoors and horseback riding his entire life. He especially enjoys being able to combine his love of the outdoors with his love of people and always makes folks feel right at home. He has hosted hundreds of weddings and other events here at the ranch and delights in being able to make people smile (especially his wife).
Jamileh has been riding horses since she was 4 years old. She has varied interests which include trail riding, swimming, hiking and traveling. She enjoys working alongside Mark hosting events here at the ranch and assisting in the maintenance of the property and buildings.
Hayley is Mark & Jamileh’s youngest daughter. She is a previous member of the Central PA Youth Rodeo Association and was the 2011 All-Around Champion Cowgirl. She continues to compete in barrel racing, pole bending, goat tying, team roping & break-away roping. She enjoys driving our team of horses here at the ranch and maintaining the grounds and surrounding property.
Jeremy has worked with horses since a young age. He has spent most of his life shoeing and training horses. In addition to working with horses Jeremy also enjoys photography and extreme sports. He is a great asset to the ranch with his knowledge and years of experience.
Taylor joined the team in the spring of 2014. She loves cooking & baking & enjoys watching college basketball. She organizes and books all of our trail rides. In addition to that she assists with the maintenance & upkeep of the farmhouse, barn & surrounding property.
Tracey has been working at the Ranch since the fall of 2011 and has become one of our best trail guides. On Saturdays you’ll find Tracey grooming the horses and cleaning the stalls, but what she enjoys the most is taking folks on a trail ride and sharing with them the beautiful property that is named “Ironstone Ranch”.
Bryan assists us during our corporate events doing some of the tractor pulled wagon rides or setting up the skeet shooting event. He also maintains all of the equipment here at the ranch and helps to maintain the property. He is an active duty ARMY Reservist and was deployed to Afghanistan. We are thankful he came home safely and that he chooses to serve here at the ranch.
The Ranch Hands
In addition to Hayley and Taylor; Keegan, Evan and Drew are also valued members of our Ironstone Ranch team. They also work to direct our guests during an event they are very involved in the “behind the scenes” workings of Ironstone Ranch.
Each of our horses has his or her own personality, and we are thrilled to introduce you to them.
Waylon and Willie are Belgian draft horses each one weighing in over 2000 pounds. They are full brothers and their primary job is to graciously court our wedding parties on the hitch wagon around the property and to the ceremony site.
Candy is the very first horse that Mark, Jamileh & their girls ever purchased. She is an American Quarter Horse and is Jamileh’s personal horse. She loves children and is especially intuitive to children with special needs and enjoys taking them on trail rides.
Bogie is also an American Quarter Horse. He is a certified reigning horse and was entered in competitions with his previous owner. Now he enjoys a quieter life by giving trail rides and hanging out with his pasture buddies.
Dixie is an American Quarter Horse mare. She is a trained team roping horse, loves children and loves to lope out on the trail. She enjoys sunny days out in the pasture with Leroy the donkey as her constant companion.
Gator is a Pony of the Americas. He is a retired rodeo pony and use to compete in barrel racing and pole bending events. Now he spends his time arguing with Leroy, eating hay and hanging out with the boys.
Hannah is a white Percheron mare and weighs approximately 1800 pounds. She enjoys taking people out on trail rides. She has the dignified job of pulling our white carriage and occasionally teams up with Montana to pull our hitch wagon.
Doc & Montana
Doc and Montana are our team of black Percheron draft horses. They have worked as a team for many years and previously pulled our hitch wagon. Montana now enjoys giving trail rides and occasionally teams up with Hannah on the hitch wagon. Doc is fully retired and enjoys his days basking in the sun and visiting with our guests here at the ranch.
Rastus is the boss of the herd. He spends his days watching over the herd and is quick to discipline anyone who needs it. Rastus is an Appaloosa and is Mark’s personal horse. Rastus takes his job very seriously and loves to work out on the trail.
Leroy is a vital part of Ironstone Ranch. He is the official “watchdog” and oversees all ranch activities. If anyone gets out of line Leroy is the one who sets them straight. He enjoys eating carrots and tagging along on trail rides. He also enjoys the occasional invitation to attend wedding receptions here at the ranch.
Big C and Vegas
Big C and Vegas are our resident Texas Longhorn cattle. They were born in Maryland and were both hand raised. They have been together their whole lives and love the attention they receive here at the ranch. Their favorite thing is to be scratched behind their horns and to be fed carrots by our guests.
Sweet Tea & Banjo
Sweet Tea and Banjo are our resident mother and son pair of miniature donkeys. Sweet Tea is very reserved and shy and typically spends her days grazing in the pastures. Her son Banjo is more personable and loves the attention he receives from our guests. He has had the distinct honor of attending several wedding expos.
